Jaume: "Winning against Elche would reinforce our good work"

The goalkeeper talked to VCF Media ahead of the upcoming LaLiga fixture

Goalkeeper and captain Jaume Domènech has been training hard ahead of the LaLiga game against Elche, but he took time out from his schedule to talk to VCF Media on Wednesday. Motivated to help return the team to winning ways, he believes that there have been some positives to draw from recent showings that make him optimistic about the future.

The game against Elche

"We are very motivated ahead of the game against Elche. We have a strong desire to start picking up 3 points in every game. We are working hard in order to do that. We hope that this weekend we can get the victory."

Synergy with the coaching staff

"The coaching staff are implanting their ideas. I think that last Sunday you saw a more defensively solid team, with more control of possession. We were bringing the ball out well. Last Sunday there were some very positive things; the result wasn't good, but I think that by taking the positive things and improving, and by continuing to work like we have been, we are going to get good results. We also have a young squad, and that requires a process of adaptation and learning. I think that we are on the right path."

"There is complete trust between the players and the coaching staff. We've been working very well since preseason. I think that we are growing physically as well. This is the path that we want to take. We hope that this weekend we can round it off with a victory."

Motivation

"Last Sunday you saw a completely fresh team, with good ideas and initiative in our play. That's what we have to do. We want to go out onto the pitch and take the maximum amount of points."

Mestalla without fans

"It's hard for us when we play at Mestalla without the fans there, as they are possibly amongst the best supporters in Spain. We were unbeatable at home for a long time, thanks in part to that factor of our fanbase. They support us a lot and put a lot of pressure on the opposition. We have to adapt and also give them something to be happy about. We have to work hard so that we can give them good results."

Using Matchday 7 as a springboard

"Winning the game would reinforce the good work that we've been doing, the good training sessions and the efforts of the group. I think it would give us a boost, so we will work hard this week to be in the best shape possible for the game."
